Why Steadfast?
Steadfast Health & Performance Counselling was founded out of a deep passion for health and a belief in the transformative power of therapy. As the owner and lead therapist, I am committed to helping people achieve meaningful lifestyle changes that align with their unique goals and values.
My therapy approach recognizes that achieving optimal health is not about fitting into societal molds or one-size-fits-all solutions. Each person’s history, personality, and environment shape their journey, and true growth requires an individualized approach. Therapy is about healing, self-discovery, and rewiring unhelpful patterns that may be holding you back.
The name Steadfast is intentional and all about creating small, sustainable changes that support your mental and physical well-being over the long term. Whether you’re striving to perform under pressure in sports, work, or school—or simply seeking a healthier, more balanced life—I’m here to help you build strength, foster self-compassion, and create the life you want to live.
About me
My journey to become a therapist started in my undergrad. I didn’t want to attend university at all, and ended up starting out in an Arts degree, exploring many different courses. I quickly fell in love with Psychology.
After my undergrad, I knew I wanted to be front lines, helping people, which led me to Social Work. Social Work felt like the perfect blend of psychology and the real world. I love how Social Work teaches us to understand the context of the environment, at all levels and how that affects us as individuals.
I’ve worked as a family support worker, as a Wellness Coordinator and Social Worker in Schools and as a Primary Health Care Counsellor. During this time I was living out west, on a remote reserve in Northern Saskatchewan, then later in the Edmonton area. I then went on to complete my Masters of Social Work, with a focus on the treatment of trauma. These different spaces and roles helped mold my world view and I hold great respect and appreciation for all that the Indigenous culture has shown me along the way.
Since graduating from my Masters at University of Calgary, and becoming a therapist, I have been fortunate to uncover what I am most passionate about. Helping people achieve their health goals blends both my personal and professional worlds, and is something that I see as so important to functioning our best. I truly view health, physical and mental, as the building blocks to everything else in life. If we can tackle taking care of ourselves, our cup is full enough to navigate life’s challenges and to extend that to others. It builds our strength up to survive, or maybe even fight against, the many systems that work against us.
The world becomes a lot more enjoyable when we feel in control of ourselves and feel our best in our bodies and minds. If we have the tools and capacity to keep ourselves well, we make the world a better place.
